分别是 官方语言、民族语言、第一语言、第二语言。
中华人民共和国的官方语言是汉语普通话，其他的藏语、苗语、广东话都不是官方语言，因为中文的复杂性，英语里用mandarin表示。 很多欧洲的国家是有多种官方语言的，以梵蒂冈为例，官方是意大利语和拉丁语，这两种属于不同民族的语言，民间则是德语、英语、荷兰语等等多民族语言都用的，可能一家人说四五种语言。在这个国家出生的小孩以母亲的语言作为母语，所以不像大多数中国人，说汉语母语肯定是第一语言，他们也有一开始就学习爷爷的语言的，这个就是他的第一语言。 但是在梵蒂冈混只会一种语言怎么行呢，那么就还得多学其他的语言，就是第二语言。

查了很多， 发现这两个词没什么大区别，都是母语的意思。 但Native language有本族语、本地语的意思，强调当地大多数人所说的当地语言，有点针对地方的意思。mother language来源于mother tongue， 有时会强调个人小时候在家乡学的语言，有点针对各人的母语的意思。
总之区别不大，这两个词基本可以混用。
